Almost heading back to the Narita Airport…

[Edit: I left on the evening of March 10th, which was just twelve hours before the March 11th tsunami/quake hit northern Japan. Please pray for the country and support them in any way that you can.]

A diagonal crosswalk intersection would only work in Japan; if this function was applied elsewhere around the world, it would cause chaos amongst (disobedient) pedestrians and motorized traffic.

If you know how to find your underground subway exit in Tokyo, you’ll never have to walk on the streets.

Beforehand, I didn’t know much about Tokyo or Japan, but I had the expectation to feel like I was in Hong Kong or New York City: Crowded and congested. But there are parts of Tokyo, like their business district, where I can actually see clear blue skies and the city’s landscape. I just expected to feel visually overwhelmed with skyscrapers and high-rise buildings but not every neighborhood and district is like that.

Homage to my aunt, who spent her entire career (40 years) at what is now known as the Bank of Tokyo and this is the HQ. It was her first and only company….These days, I can’t even imagine being married to the same guy for 40 years, let alone commit to a company for that long.

Location: Asakusa

Facts: Known for the Sensō-ji Buddhist temple, theatre, and the oldest geisha district. I didn’t notice any geishas in costume though.
